Angela Trujillo, Crochet Maven

My name is Angela Trujillo, and Nannyghans is my creative crochet outlet — a place where memories, passion, and lifelong learning come together stitch by stitch.   

Crochet has been part of my heart since childhood, when my grandma first placed a hook in my hand. That simple act became a treasured memory and a thread that has followed me throughout my life. I dabbled in the craft over the years, but there was always a quiet voice telling me it could become something more.  

After retiring from 34 years in education and moving from Las Vegas, Nevada to small‑town Illinois, I picked up my hooks again… and I haven’t looked back. I’m endlessly grateful to my family — especially my husband, Joe — for cheering me on in this wild and wonderful adventure. He truly makes it all possible.  

While afghans were my first love, my creative world has grown to include wearables, accessories, and home and holiday décor. Designing and experimenting with new patterns fills a space in my soul I didn’t realize would feel empty once I stepped out of the classroom. As a lifelong learner, I’m always chasing the next idea, the next challenge, the next skein of yarn that sparks inspiration.  

This journey has also led me into the world of craft markets and shows. I typically particpate in 4–6 events each year, all located in central Illinois. As soon as markets are booked, I list them on the front page of my website for easy access. Connecting with customers and fellow makers energizes me in a way that’s hard to put into words — the conversations, the smiles, the encouragement… it all lights me up.

And now, an exciting new milestone:

You can find my booth inside Sweet Pea’s Antiques and More 📍 14335 Frazee Rd, Divernon, IL 62530 (Just behind the truck stop at Rt. 104 and I‑55)

My booth is to the left of the checkout counter — the second booth on the left. Stop by on days when I’m working in the shop and enjoy a 10% discount as a thank‑you for supporting this dream.

What an incredible journey this has been… and it’s only just beginning.
